HDD cam with smoothest workflow with FCP Studio

Hey all,

I currently shoot with an HVX200 but we need a "behind the scenes" camera. We would love to stay tapeless and HD would be nice but it is not a must. I have read horror stories about FCP and HDD based cameras. Here is my question in a nutshell.

I need a tapeless camera that captures video in a file format that FCP Studio will be able to take through "import" or "log and transfer". I do not want to have to convert the files over using mpegstream or some other third party program.

I just need a tapeless camera that has a straight format that FCP can ingest and edit.

We will be shooting daily "BTS" stuff that will need to be edited quickly same day with simple cuts and simple titles.

It would be nice to have an HD, 3CCD chip tapeless camera but I will be happy with any SD cameras if they can do what I need above.

Thanks !

I here theres this really cool camera called the HVX-200 that does just that!

Actually, I stated in my post that we use the HVX200 as our main camera. I am only looking for a smaller inexpensive camera to shoot "Behind the scenes" footage.

Any one have any ideas?

Here's my $0.02. You could get a used DVX100 and use a Focus FS-4 40 gig Direct-to-Edit recorder. If you could find both used you could probably get the whole package for under $3,000 and 40 gigs would give you 3+ hours of NTSC footage. HV30 is tape-based, no?
