HD vs. Sony DSR-11 Deck

I have a sequence I am attempting to "Print to Video" using my Sony Deck. The clips originated in HD using the HVX200 (I do not know if that fact is relevant) and I am attemtping to dump to mini dv. The problem is that I cannot get the deck to properly record. The deck responds okay. It acts as though it is recording. But when I attempt to view the tape through "Log and Capture" (I do not have a monitor--yet) it is either digital noise that the deck has recorded or simply black. Any advice? I have monkeyed with the Video Playback setting under Audio/Video Settings but to no avail.

For the Sequence you are using to print to tape, is it set to DV in the correct format (i.e. 29.97, NTSC vs PAL, etc)? Double check that.

If you are trying to output from an HD sequence to minDV, that's not going to work without some additional hardware. Short of buying that additional hardware, you'll need to render the HD sequence to a SD DV one.

FCP/QT is not the greatest for resizing video, so if you can, take it to After Effects and convert your footage with AE because it will look a lot better. Be aware that it is not exactly a quick process however.

Good luck,
Garrett
