HD TV....good?

he already bought it? seems nice...are trying to convince him to get rid of it?

i have an lcd dlp 50" samsung that rocks...hd is great...i love watching hd programing...

Yeah he bought it already.....he says it's an amazing tv...my uncle showed him the tv..cuz he works at an electronics store, so he showed them the best they had in the store...and him and my uncle were lookin at the really good plasmas and stuff...but i wasnt with him when he was with my uncle..he jus told me about it...so i wanted to see what you guys thought about it.

Tomorrow its supposed to come...along with like Dish Network HD programming nd stuff...hopefully it's as nice as my uncle says it is....he says Elite is like the best plasma you could buy currently.

i jus wanted your opinions on it.

...now this means i have to buy an HVX200.... :(

Maybe....upgrading to HD is such a hassle....I feel like i dont need HD...but..i guess if he's insisting on me going HD...hey...its all good...he's getin the bill of the HVX...not me...hahaha

id say roughly 15-20 years after HD becomes a regular standard and people are used to it...

Some fones have that feature....the new Verizon phones that have VCast on them...i forgot the model...but it also is an MP3 player.

If your Dad wants to upgrade your camera to an HVX, don't complain. You gotta take advantage of that gravy train before it runs out.:)
 
Yeah true true....but the only thing I have against the HVX200...is its size...that thing like gobbles up your hand when you hold it..and its heavy as all hell....thats like my main complaint......

i kno..i sound like a pre-madonna...but yeah...that thing is a beast!

And editing in HD is wayy different too....I was told that you have to like get a separate drive to put the P2 cards into to hook into the computer..and the drive alone is like 500 bucks..im like wtf!!!
Then coming down to computer hardware...I'm not sure if my editing computer can handle HD real time streams in Vegas...

4.0ghz
512 MB RAM..soon gonna get my money to get 1 GB
Single Pentium 4 processor..wishing it was a multi-processing machine

Are any of those basic specs enough to edit HD on?

I was told in the past at some Expos that you need like a super beast computer to edit HD on ...and im like.....if they make it seem like that....then i might as well not switch cuz its gonna cost much money.

If you want to edit in HD and make it work smoothly, I'd suggest to atleast get 2 gigs of ram, plus a decent video card that won't fry trying to process all of it.
 
Depends what you use, I'd say.

With Vegas, the video card is irrelevant. There are only two things you need it to do -- give you dual-monitor support (almost all do), and have the ability to display in higer resolutions (like 1280x720 and above) -- and neither is make-or-break; it just makes life easier.

Vegas is processor-based, not GPU-based.
