hd tv and fcp

Just wondering what I would need to buy to set up a plasma hd tv to plug into my mac pro and display only the canvas or viewer of fcp. My idea is to just have my tools on my cinema display and then have an hdtv displaying the final video alone. iv seen it done before but I realy dont want to buy a deck.

I assume you're already dual display? Cause if not, if the HDTV supports it, just DVI out from the MacPro into the HDTV and voila you're done. But I'm guessing it won't be that easy.

You could use a Matrox MXO box. I would search here for old threads by Shane Ross on that. Or Google for his blog and search there. He's done a good write up on it and talked about it on various occasions. That might do the trick for you.

And you would never need a deck to do it, but a video card perhaps. You could look to various video card options by BlackMagic Design or AJA. The BlackMagic intensity could also be what would work well for your HTDV. Its only $249 (or $349 if you want all of the analog options and get the Pro model).

Cheers.

Never used a Mac Pro but on my MacBook Pro the DVI out to a DVI -> HDMI adapter works perfectly, you just have to go into the View menu to set it up then F12 to reset external monitors and it comes up.
