What's up guys......I've got a client that I am thinking about persuading to step up to the HD format. This project will be a multi purpose/format for T.V Monitor (to be purchased) and for the web. My question is if I do shoot in 720p will that compress cleaner for web than SD? Does is matter what format I shoot in considering it's gonna end up a small quicktime file? Sorry for the beginner quetion just newer to HD.

HD does well in h.264 codec using QT Pro on the streaming mode, at least in my opinion. I wish there was a sticky here with more info one what codecs and settings to use for different releases. Right now though, I put my 720p finished footage through QT Pro to make a streaming h.264 mov file at 1700kb/s. The quality is pretty good, but I haven't done much comparison to other codecs and filetypes.

here's some recent 720p footage i put online with QT pro h.264:

the original file, at full 1280x720 resolution (but not uncompressed) is at www.doodlesofamadman.com/video/Master_F1_h264.MOV ... so you can see it has lost a lot of resolution, but I think it still looks pretty good for being 8MB (my uncompressed avi of this footage is 1.2GB)
