HD to SD problems

Hey all,

This is similar to a problem below, except a bit different... I was hoping someone had a good workflow for this as I haven't been able to find much...

Editing 720p footage in FCP 6 with DVCPRO HD codec in a 24p timeline. Export sequence to compressor 2. Choose DVD best quality 90 minutes... 24p DVD. Like post below, .m2v file seems to play back fine on the mac. Burn to DVD with Toast Titanium. When I play it in any commercial DVD player then, constant stutter in motion through whole picture. It seems to be worse with motion, but there is always a constant stutter.

Any ideas what's going on with this?

Thank you!
Brad

I do everything you do...except I use DVD Studio Pro...not Toast...and everything is fine.

Try using DVD SP.

Sounds like a field dominance issue. In compressor, check your encoding settings and make sure it's set to upper field first. Also, make sure Toast isn't re-encoding your m2v files. It happens sometimes. It should just multiplex them, but I've noticed on long files it tends to re-encode no matter what. Also, you might want to just have toast do the encoding for you from the start. It does an adequate job, not as good as compressor though.

Hey Batutta,

I'm not sure I understand. In Compressor I'm exporting to a progressive .m2v file, not interlaced. Maybe Toast can't burn 24p DVDS?
