I am putting the finishing touches on a new editing station. The main item I lack is an HD production monitor. I was naturally floored by the price of these units. Are there any alternatives? I will be using a Kona LHe card for video.
I have read discussions of people using a NTSC to DVI converter and using an Apple Cinema display. Is that a viable alternative?
Another idea is to use a consumer HD monitor. The drawback to this is the consumer units have a lot of processing that is added so you don't see errors or see a broadcast safe image.
I can probably get by using my current SD monitor, but it feels like a weak link in an otherwise great system.
