Anybody else using any of the current crop of pocket video cameras? If so, what are you using it for and how do you like it?
I upgraded my Kodak Zx1 - probably going on eBay soon - to a Kodak Zi8 and I'm quite happy with the result. 1080p/30, 720p/60, 720p/30, wvga, and stills. For less than $200.-.
Hooking it up to my big screen via HDMI produced some jaw-dropping results. (Ok, keep the "less than 200 bucks" statement in mind. It isn't a RED One or anything.)
If you are careful holding it, and do your pans really slowly, you can get some pretty decent footage. Forget the zoom. It's digital only. And the lens is probably plastic, but I can see a use for this. Scouting locations for one. But the fact that it actually fits in your pocket so you can carry it around pretty much always, at least makes me record much more video than I've ever done before. I probably also throw away more video then ever before, but if I get 5% keepers, that 5% more than I had before.
In short; I like it. How about you?
