Hey guys,

I was just wondering if anyone knew of any hollywood films that were released in cinemas filmmed in HD? Is it possible to create a hollywood looking film with Hd then get it printed onto 35mm film for distribution? Any infomation would be much appreciated.

Thanks. DG.

tons of movies. All of Rodriguez's stuff for the past several years, Click, Apocalypto, that WWI pilot movie that just came out, Prarie Home Companion, etc. etc. etc. etc.

Yes, it is doable. Yes, more money, better gear, better post process, careful planning, etc. make a difference.

I think there's a site with, oh, about 2800 articles relating to that particular topic. What's it called? Oh yeah - hdforindies.com

disclaimer - yes it is my own site

or how about the other direction....

Lynch used pd-150's for inland empire.....you should check it out in the theaters to see what a SD camera is capable of, when blown up by a studios bankroll.

Im anticipating seeing it just for that reason. I know the first jackass was shot on pd150's and when I saw it in the theaters I didnt mind the grain etc. Ive seen dvx's on a 60 foot screen that looked fine to me....

Apocalypto was shot in entirely HD... but someone already said that...

Knowing that, It was probably finnessed alot because they had enough money to do so.

Thats interesting, how likely is it that it was filmmed with a camera similar to the functions and features of the DVX / HVX?

Thanks again, DG.

Jarred Land's HVX was used for some greenscreen shots that were transferred to 35mm for inclusion in the middle-eastern theatrical release of Spielberg's five-Oscar-nominated "Munich". http://imdb.com/title/tt0408306/

How many times do I need to say... Use the search function!
