HD on SD DVDs?

Sorry to do this, but there was a thread recently on the prospect of putting HD footage on an SD disc. Can anyone point me to that? Maybe it's the Guinness, but I can't seem to find it. Thanks.

Hey Jim, you can make an HD-DVD onto a standard 4.7g DVD using DVD SP on the Mac, and there are a couple PC apps that will do it as well. You might check out the FCP forum. Don't know of any way to do Blu-Ray this way, tho.

I remember that with Blu-ray one could put HD on SL and DL DVDs too. (Assuming maximum data rate, it would be about 20minutes SL and about 35 minutes DL.) I just can't remember if the latest version of TOAST for the Apple would allow you to do this or not...

Using Compressor you can encode HD-DVD content, and you can burn (I think) up to 18 minutes on a DVD-5 (Single Layer) or 36 minutes on a DVD-9 (Dual-Layer) using DVD Studio Pro. Not sure about the PC apps that Dick mentions.

Hey Jim this is super easy...I've only done it once but was surprised how basic it was.

(From memory though) just choose one of the HD DVD H.264 options in Compressor and author it as an HD DVD in DVD Studio Pro.
