HD on iMac

Hi guys,

I've got a single-core iMac with two gigs of RAM. Use it all the time to edit SD footage from the DXV. This weekend I'm shooting with the Canon XL H1, and would love to shoot HD (on HDV tape - 1080) since I've got the camera.
How much of a burden do you think this will put on my computer? Will it add to rendering times like crazy? Or is it more of a storage issue?
Also, what is the best way to downconvert the final project to an internet acceptable size? I want the HD because it will likely be shown on other media, but first it's going on the internet, so I need it down to less than 100MB (the final project will be about 2 mins long)
Thanks!

Matt

The HDV footage is going to cause you some pain. What version of FC do you have? IS it FCS? Is it FCS2?

HDV is processor intensive but file sizes are workable.

For downconversion I always use compressor.

I will be doing the same thing in about two weeks with the new Canon A1. I have FCS2 with an iMac duo core Intel.
I'll be looking for Matt's results.

I edit 720P HDV from the JVC HD100 on a Powerbook G4...you should be able to do basic stuff, but you will need render anything else...ie...realtime playback will suffer
