HD Lipstick Camera Options

Hey DVX Users
We have recently been incorporating a lot of POV cameras in our productions but we are now making the gradual upgrade to HD. Our clients like the POV, but so far all HD lipstick options are outrageous in price. Any suggestions? A helmet mount would be ideal. We have been using bulletcams and Sony 555's.

Thanks,
CGTL

You can get cheap if you go bigger than the lipstick formfactor.

Just make sure your subjects have big heads and strong necks. At that price, you can afford to lose one occasionally, too.

Another thread kinda hashed this out already and came to the conclusion that if you're serious about lipstick, the best you can do it shoot SD.

Professor U, what would you suggest if a person still wanted to have digital video tape to work with? That would not cost and arm and a leg.

I think the smallest HD cam that records to tape would be the Canon HV10 (if someone knows of a different option, let me know), it's come down in price quite a bit, to under $700. If your destination format was DVD, that footage would cut relatively well with most HD cams as b-roll footage.

If you want to keep cost lower, go with a SD MiniDV palmcorder.
