Posted this in HVX forum but I think it really should be here...

Okay, this should be easy but it is causing so much grief. We have a promotional video to get out. It's about 2 minutes long and will be played back on a dvd player on a widescreen.

We're in Ppro at 1080i. What is the best way to get this, in the best quality possible onto a DVD for SD widescreen playback.

Everything we're doing is creating a very pixelated ugly DVD. We put DVD's together in Encore.

So straight out of Ppro looks bad. Encore looks bad, what should we do.

Open your HD sequence in a new SD widescreen project. Scale down the clips manually and export mpeg-2. If you let Premiere handle the downconversion it looks mushy. For some reason Premiere cannot handle an SD export directly from the HD timeline.
For the record, I use a frameserver, and export my HD project using Sony Vegas. Hope this helps.
