You can export it as an HD DVD using DVD SP. But that will ONLY work on Toshiba HD DVD players. And since HD DVD is now a dead format, there is no point. You want Blu-Ray. For that your only option is Adobe Encore. And you will need a Blu_Ray burner too.
but to complete the answer, if you in fact want an HD-DVD of your short, DVD SP will burn a Toshiba compatible HD-DVD on a standard 4.7 purple DVD-/+R.
Whether or not you can find a Toshiba player is another issue. I exepct there will be a big market dump soon, as Blu-Ray players become cheaper.
Sorry to threadjack, but does anybody know the cleanest way to downconvert a short project created on an HD timeline so that it can be brought into DVD SP for a standard definition DVD?
I shot in HD and am editing in HD, but need to get it to the client in SD at the best quality allowable.
You can do a ful rez export on the HD timeline, then create your SD timeline, then import and drag the HD export into the SD timeline. It should scale it appropriately. You can scale it up to crop the sides or leave it with letterbox if you want.
Thats one way. There might be another if you mess with some anamorphic settings on export, I think???
Shouldn't have any quallity issues going from HD to SD. When you have your HD clip in the SD timeline, do a export using compressor and do the SD DVD 60 or 90 min (don't remember what it is?) best quality. Should be good to go.
Just export using Compressor with the DVD presets. Compressor will do the downrezzing for you. Then just import the MPEG2 and AC3 files into DVD SP for authoring.
