HD editing/CC monitor (for T2i footage)?

What's everyone using for an HD editing monitor? I need something that I can calibrate for reliable color correcting that doubles as an in-studio client monitor. My source footage is 1080p from a Canon T2i.

I probably could have said that a little better. The Mini does have component also. HDMI will give you the best output. Component, though still viable, is beginning to fade.

As I understand it, if you output the signal from the Mini via component, you would be converting to analogue and then back to digital. HDMI remains all digital with no conversion. See quote and link.

"Quality: Because HDMI is a digital interface, it provides the best quality of the video since there are no lossy analog to digital conversions as are required for all analog connections (such as component or S-video). The difference is especially noticeable at higher resolutions such as 1080p. Digital video will be sharper than component, and eliminates the softness and ghosting found with component. Small, high contrast details such as text bring this difference out the most."

Mia Culpa: I would also admit when I plug my HPX170 directly into my so called monitor via component, I can't really tell any difference between that and the Mini output via HDMI.

Do you suppose this would make more difference with a higher res cam?

Interesting. What is the difference between component and HDMI in terms of quality?

Close to nothing!

The whole analog/digital conversion thing is moot.

Your display (like it or not) at the last stage, when it comes to sending current to the LCD elements or the CRT is analog.
So if you send an analog (component) signal) to your monitor it gets converted in your computer/card, if you send a digital signal (HDMI) it gets converted in the monitor.

The question is only, which conversion is better and can you see any difference at all.

Usually digital is not automatically always better.
