HD converters

i just ordered dish hd and it'll be installed next week and i realized something. i can use my pyro a/v link to convert the component to s-video for my analog tv. as long as the receiver has component out which the one i looked at did. granted i have a small lcd (pre-hd), but now i'm seriously going to find a cheap 30" or larger widescreen tube...i'll worry about the huge hd lcd later. that way i can enjoy the programming and save up for the biggie.

it does have an s-video, but they're not saying that the hd gets down converted to sd. they're sticking to their story that hd goes out the hdmi ports. granted i'll find out tuesday.

would've posted yesterday...last night but no time...anyway it didn't work. the pyro is a non-hd device...i connected with the component and then sent it out composite, but it split the signal showing the same screen side-by-side. all that aside if it would've worked it did look nice albeit twice :)

however maybe i interpreted this whole HD thing wrong...i thought you wouldn't be able to watch HD on a standard TV. turns out the receiver has all the connections so i am watching the HD programming just not in HD and i must say it does look nice. much like audio you can listen to a stereo signal on a mono speaker system just not hear the stereo or have surround sound playing on a stereo system...it works, but it's not the real deal...ah sometime in december i'll be getting a samsung 1080p and then really enjoy my HD...til then it's HD on a SD.

just for the sake of saking...i'm watching the kung fu channel. too cool.
