HD Audio Sync Issue

Please help me! I just shot with my brand new Canon XH A1 in HDV (24F) and I am capturing into Final Cut Express. Playback on the camera shows the audio perfectly in sync but when captured on the computer there is a significant lag time - the time lapse is there even after capturing, on the files on my computer.
Please oh please help me!
:(:(:(:(

Sometimes this issue is more about your computer or capturing codec choice. What are you editing with and what settings did you use to capture?

i'm using a newish macbook (os 10.4.10) and I have not had problems before but then i have not used hd before.

i dunno if this is related, but when i select 'capture' i don't get the popup window i normally get to choose the capture now settings - it just immediately starts capturing...

thanks for your response - any help would be very much appreciated!!

I had a similar problem just recently using an HVX200a at 720p and FCP 6. The audio, which is fine in camera, or for that matter in FCP's capture window, was about 7 frames ahead in the timeline. I solved it by simply sliding the audio back the 7 frames, but I have yet to figure out why it happened in the first place. It never did before, but for me that was with FCP 5.1.2.

Anyway, if yours is the same issue, it appears to be an FCP 6 thing (likely the same in FCE), or possibly QuickTime, but in any case the solution is fairly simple - "unlock" the audio from the video and slide it back 7 frames (or whatever it might take in your case) to match the picture. Unless there are a very large number of clips at the capture stage, this shouldn't take you too long.

Hopefully someone will figure out what the underlying problem is soon and fix it.

Thanks, yeah I've been trying to re-sync the audio manually, but it keeps SLIPPING out of sync - the audio must not be picking up properly or something?
It's completely bizarre.
Does anyone have any ideas about what I should try? It appears to be falling out of sync at an inconsistent rate!! in short, it's hellish.
