Hbo hd

Guys,
Watching Inception on hbo tonite and I noticed that it's fullscreen and not 2:35:1.

What gives?

In the past hbo would show films 4:3/pan and scan but why not show films in the proper aspect ratio on it's hd channel.

Maybe I'm late noticing this, only because I've seen inception on dvd numerous times but for hbo to not show the film as it was intended to be seen (on it's hd channel no less) is just plain not right.

It's kind of weird. You figure for PAY cable it's the least they could do. I wonder what's their reasoning for doing so?

It just doesn't make sense to me since "Digital HD" is such a huge selling point for them.

U guys have any ideas why they would do this.

Old thread but....I'm watching Titanic on HBO now and it's 2:35:1.

Threw me for a loop seeing this on HBO but it looks darn good.

Why cant they do this for all their films that are 2:35:1? I don't get it?

And why show it properly now after all these years it hasn't been shown this way on HBO?

Very annoying.

Maybe the deliverable they got from the production company?

Its probably one of the most annoying things to me. To watch a movie and not see it how it was meant to be seen. This is why I have grown to dislike Netflix and Films on TV. Plus the commercials for the latter. Two months ago I saw Insomnia again on Netflix. And...The horror!

Sure its not as bad as some others maybe but it still feels like a punch to the gut.
