Hazer for long interview? Is this dumb?

Hey all,

I want to shoot an interview (30-45 min) indoors, and use a DF-50 to get a nice soft look and accentuate some natural light coming in through big windows to the side of the subject.

Is this dumb? I guess I'm asking if the haze will all be gone by the time I call cut. Also I guess the sun will be setting as I plan to shoot at golden hour. I dunno.. I think it will work but any ideas are helpful.

Also I'm gonna use an A7s. Is there any risk of the haze causing the 8-bit signal to step and give me crunchy nastiness?

Using an oil base with the DF-50 will give you a nice hang time, so you should be good there. Watch for setting off the fire alarms if any.

The sun coming in through the window could be an issue if it is setting during your interview.

Any chance to test the location before the shoot would be helpful.

Also knowing in advance the amount of haze needed for the same volume room would be super helpful.

Thanks David!

Ah yes, fire alarms. The building is an older loft with fire sprinkler. The oldschool ones. Which I believe are heat-activated.

The DF-50 manufacturer said I should be fine as their haze emits no heat but does anyone have evidence to the contrary?

I would double check. They may have installed Ionization, Photoelectric, or dual sensor detectors to be up to code in an older building. My home is pushing 130 years old and I had to install all new fire detection.
