Haywire

Really not a bad film. Might have gone astray if it had been any longer, but for what it is, it's pretty decent. Reminiscent of Out of Sight.

Gina Carano is a much better actor than I would have expected.

Some of the cinematography is amongst the worst I've seen ... an orange Michael Douglas ... seriously? Took me right out of it. As much as I love Soderbergh and love some of his films ... Soderbergh really should stop shooting his own stuff. For me the only saving grace for this film was the ever watchable Ewan McGregor.

edit:
Just wanted to add that this film is very much an extension what Soderbergh tried to do with The Girlfriend Experience. ie choosing reality. Cast a personal trainer (Chris Santos) to play a personal trainer. Cast a call girl (Sasha Grey) to play a call girl. And so too in Haywire he cast a fighter (Gina Carano) to play a fighter. I get it - the auteur is present. I can see that and its commendable more than it is successful.

Yeah, the cinematography was atrocious (it wasn't even just the horrendous colors, but diffusion out the ass, as well), but other than that, I liked the film -- mainly because I like most or all of the actors in it.

Definitely some different things here cinematography wise. The opening scene in the cafe we look outside and it's blown out horribly.

Gina's acting in the first scene wasn't good but from then on she was pretty damn good for her first big role.

Some of the fight scenes were great. Loved seeing Gina hard low kick a dude and full on push kick. And man she was sexy in that leather jacket.
