Hawaii

Surrounding UH Manoa are residential areas.

Waikiki is the nearest hotel/resort area to Manoa. Orbitz or similar travel agents can give you rates.

Be aware that there is very little parking at the UH Manoa campus
Parking on Saturday shouldn't be too bad. But parking on Friday is going to be tough to find.

I wish I could attend but I'm going to be out of town that weekend. Rats!

Hey Susan (the co-organizer of the bootcamp) just beeped me about parking:

Jarred,

In response to Dean's post about parking -- if people get here by 8am they shouldn't have a problem in the main parking structure for the university which is across the street from our building. Even at 8:30 they should be able to find parking without much trouble.

On Saturday they can park right by the room we'll be using.

thanks,
Susan

So there you go.. Registration for Hawaii will open online on Tuesday.

All righty, who's all goin to Hawaii?

If there was ever a trip to take to write off as a business expense, I think this would be it! :)

Hey Jarred.
What's the latest you think someone could sign up and still get in. I'm trying to decide on the upgrade to my dvx-100 and waiting on a project to begin - all could happen soon. Have some business on the islands and I might be able to make it work in October.

Sounds good. Just noticed that's the anniversary weekend. Wife coming to Hawaii (how could I leave her and still remain happily married) and someone to watch the kids - yikes.

If it is still on, just want to say have a great time, hopefuly those less fortunate ones as myself, will get to hear all about it here on the boards :)

take care

Shucks. All dressed up with no where to go. It seems they're postponing it due to the earthquake. But there may be a special guest day camp in place. I'll let Jarred fill you in.

I live in Kapolei on Oahu. It was a big one for Hawaii. I was in LA for Northridge so I knew what it was. Don't think we've had anything near a 6 in the past 75 years so I couldn't believe it was happening here! For a lot of people it was a shock. My girlfriend was pretty scared and didn't want me to leave her alone.

We were actually scheduled to shoot a music video in an abandoned military warehouse. Our generator keep us going even with the power outage, although we had to make peanut butter jelly for crew lunch! Not even McD's was open. 7-11 had lines out the door a couple hundred feet. Looked like something from Six Flags in the summertime.

Aloha,

Vince

ps- We did some amazing things with the HVX200 scene files and Redrock M2. I'll keep you posted if we put up some footage.

yeah we are pushing it..we had most of the people bail and cancel, but there should stil be 5 people or so. Kevin Railsback is on the ground there, so hes gonna give you his day 2 of the bootcamp, for those that still are heading over and want something to do.

Of course, refunds will be given.

Yeah, it takes more than an earthquake to stop an Iowa boy! :)

I think Jarred is sending some stuff to my hotel for us to watch as well.

Contact Jarred for my contact info or PM me if you're going and want to still get together and do some shooting and get my perspective on how I use the HVX and why.

Jarred

What's the status of the course? Is the guy on the ground going to
teach the course as you had planned? I need to get all the info
concerning what's happening for people who are going by noon today.
The airline is charging me $150 for not flying and they will not give
a refund. The only thing they allow is a credit toward a flight
somewhere else.

I would like to attend the course if it's going to be worth the $350 I
paid. Please let me know all the details for those sticking it out and
the details of how & when refunds will be issued for those who decide
not to go. Thanks

Is the bootcamp still on? Better be, cuz my ass will be flying to Honolulu tomorrow.

Regards,
