Having miniatures made

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this, don't know where it should go.

I'm considering making a sci fi movie and am wondering about miniatures. Specifically, I'm wondering where and how to have them made. I've been looking and searching all over the internet for websites that might specialize in this but have found nothing.

Where can an independent filmmaker go to have miniatures produced?

it depends on your budget. If you're looking for something cheap, there are plenty of enthusiastic modellers and wargamers who spend many hours making various spaceships, and some of them make beautiful models. If you just want medium and background shots, that may be all you need

FWIW at the low-budget digital production level, consider digital VFX. Consumer and prosumer cameras do not have the optics, light sensitivity and frame-rate flexibility to suit miniatures photography. There are a bizillion cheap-or-free digital models in various states of usability for the downloading, and you probably wouldn't have much trouble finding a Lightwave or 3DS Max user willing to set up your shots for you.

theater

theater

i found a girl just out of hs that has been making props
for theater for a few years,
she's been making me some nice little things,
and she's psyched to do it and get credit too.

she's even excited about helping set stuff up,
which might be helpful in your case.

so, if you know anyone that does stuff in theater ask
if they know any nice prop people.
