i'm having some major problems with my computer. Whenever i try to start up FCP 4.5 or IE 5, neither seem to want to start and an error messge comes up. i have tried re installing IE but that hasnt helped at all. They both just starting doing if for no reason that i can tell. Do anyone have any suggestion of what to do? any good mac forums? i wanted to see if it might be something simple before i do ahead and try and re install FCP. thanks for any help. oh i'm using a dual 2 g5. thanks

Repair permissions using Disk Utility.
Delete prefs for each application. See apple tech notes for removing prefs for FCP.
Turn off any 'odd' extensions or controls that you might have installed.

okay i ran disk utility, and then deleted the prefs for each applcation. I got IE to work but still not fcp 4.5, i dont know what you mean as far as '"odd" extensions or controls you might have installed." i'm fairly new to macs. could you explain more or do you have a link that might. Thanks so much for you help.

If you had downloaded any control panels (especially freebies) that might cause problems.
Check the Apple discussion boards to see if there are any suggestions (or 2-pop.com)

If there is an Unistall program run that.
If not do a search for the program name to find any outstanding files.
Apple lists the items in theirtechnotes so you can remove all the files for FCP and the like.
Note that there's usually a log if there are a number of items installed.
