Hey,
So I recently filmed a band live using my EX1 (1080P) and the record company of the band have asked me to edit a promo based around the live performance with snippets of other clips they've provided me with, mostly from other shows, tour antics etc. Nothing too crazy just something to get the song out there.
The other live videos and tour stuff were shot with a commercial camera, prob your standard camera a family has. As such the quality is minidv for the most part, and not great at that. The video will be an online video so that doesn't necessarily matter for the youtubes of the world.
The thing is, they also want to use my edit of the live track as a stand alone live performance - i.e. no video added - which is fine and more money for me, hurrah!
Now realistically the live video stand alone will prob also be a youtube upload so although it prob doesn't matter too much, it'd be a shame to lose the HD quality of my footage in case it's desired at a later date.
This creates an issues of confusion as I don't want to multi cam edit the video twice, once on an HD and once on a SD timeline - the HD being the live stand alone and the SD being the live + tour footate.
So I was wondering if there a way within FCP to edit the footage on a standard XD CAM EX 1080P time line, and then import that edited footage into a SD timeline to be further edited for the live + clips video.
I'm thinking a plan might be:
1 - Edit HD live footage
2 - Create sequence for minidv footage aka pal sd
3 - Import edited live footage by dragging the sequence into SD timeline
Would that work or would I get some weird stretched/compressed version? Is there a better way?
