Have the leg, now the head.

I've read the Tripod thread. The heads in question were not mentioned there so i'll start this.

These fine legs - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/407389-REG/Miller_1630_Solo_DV_Aluminum_Tripod.html

and one of these heads - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/543747-REG/Vinten_V4018_0001_Pro_6_Pan_and_Tilt.html

If you do have other suggestions for a head, please let me know.

The tripod will be hold a HMC-150, 35mm adapter (G35 or Blade), rails (zacuto possibly), and hopefully a FF and a mattebox in the near future.

thanks.

I'd guess the Vinten head won't be enough once you've added all your toys to the camera--it says it's rated for 13 lbs. My HVX-SGblade setup is almost too much for my Libec H38, and that's rated for 17.6 lbs. (I have an onboard monitor and follow focus attached, but no mattebox yet.) Other than the fact that I'm approaching its limit, I think the Libec head is pretty nice. Whenever I step up to something bigger, I'll probably go with the H55 unless I decide to spend a lot more money and get a Cartoni or something.

good to know. I looked at the H38, was a pretty good deal. But ive read so many good things about the miller legs that i decided on that. The H55 is rated for 22lbs. Which seems to be sufficient. I still have a little time left before the purchase, so im open to suggestions.

Nantee:

Just realize you are considering a re-badged Bogen 503HDV head. Bogens aren't very good. Can you spend the extra green on a Sachtler? If not, the Libec is my cheapo candidate, they are better for the money than the Bogus, err, Bogen/Low End Re-badged Vintens.

Sachtler would be my choice. But i recently purchased the new mac pro which hit my budget pretty hard. I've read your post about the FSB-6 or the DV-6. But i've already extended myself pretty far.

As of right now. I have about $1000 towards the DV-6SB right now. Bought a Bogen 503 Pro Head and 351 sticks for $250 to do little jobs here and there to make some extra cash to get the big dog.
