Have I over-reached?

My previous Panasonic camera was the PV-GS400, which was wonderful for my volunteer DVD-making of events at our Lutheran retirement community, which are shown on a big screen to residents in Assisted Living who are unable to get to the auditorium or to outside events. I have become the "unofficial" video historian. Today, I ordered the AG-DVX100B and its shotgun mic. Have I over-reached? And if so, in what direction? Cheers, John

Not sure I understand the question. For you, what's "overreaching," and how can it run in more than one direction?

The only thing I'd say is that Panasonic's shotgun mic isn't terribly good.

You're going to love it. This is a great resource to learn everything you need to know.

I hate to drag you into a "gearhead" mentality so soon, but you might want to re-think that mic. If it's not too late, maybe you could cancel that part of your order. For only a little more money, you can get a much better mic with more versatility. Check out the audio section here.

I'm sure you can get some good sound out of that mic, but others will make that task much easier in a similar price range. No matter what, though, you're going to love your new set up and your videos will start looking infinitely better immediately! Welcome aboard.
