Have any of you used ActorCast to cast actors via video submissions?

Hi everyone. I am 90% done filming my short film but, one of the actresses I had cast for a scene I am getting ready to shoot flaked out on me. Now, I need to cast a new actress to play the part but, I can't afford to rent a space to hold an audition (especially for just one part in the movie) since this is a "no budget" production and part of my extremely low budget is going to have to be used to pay the actress. Plus, I am filming while I am holding down a full-time job so, I only get one day to film and I don't want to have to use that day for holding an audition.

I stumbled across www.actorcast.com which is a casting website that allows actors and actresses to upload audition videos for the director or casting agent to view. I am just wondering if anyone on dvxuser has used this method to cast their actors and what kind of results they have gotten. I have also been thinking about setting up a website with the sides for the actors to download and print out and asking them to videotape themselves reading the lines and then uploading the video onto youtube for me to view and make my casting decision. Has anyone tried this method of casting? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

I wouldn't make a final casting decision this way, but it would be an okay way to do a weeding-out and then meet with the folks you like the best, you don't want the first time you meet an actor to be on set.

True. I would definitely meet with the final 3 actresses I like most based on their performance in the video. Just seems like a good way to save time and money casting an actor for a scene.
