Hate to ask this but...

Alright, I did try searching the forum, but the results were just overwhelming. There are so many mini 35s out there!

A contact I made at film school and I are typing up a script and pulling funds for a feature length film. We were originally going to shoot 16mm but we decided to focus our money on something other than film and go DV.

I own one DVX100A. What we're going to do is rent one more DVX and 2 mini 35s. Anyone know the absolutely cheapest route of doing this?

Thank you.:dankk2:

It depends what is going to be your final output. DVD or telecined to 35mm filmout, in addition your budget. If your film school is offering a 16mm camera and all the editing bays for free then you should look at that route. Negotiation with their contacts maybe cheaper on the long run if you plan on showing it in a theater later on.

You will have to pay daily (obviously) for the mini 35s, and that will cost about $300 a day. Since you want two mini35's, and 300 x 2 = 600, it will cost you around $600.00 a day. And on top of whatever the rental cost of a dvx is, its most likely going to be costing you around $1000.00 a day to make this feature length film. I don't know how large your funds are, but they are going to have to be fairly hefty. A helpful hint: Organization is key - figure out exactly how much footage you can film in one day, and make sure you accomplish it.
