cant be bad for 300 , if trew desided start to sell it , i may think they found it give enouth for the price . only as usb preamp it worth to take it .
i may think with anice preamp in front as you have you will get quit alot
be carful it doesnt take + 4 line level so you will need to pad down your mixer out
why back up ?;-)
it nice if you really nead separate recording
dontb see any benefit for regullar use esspesially for dialog .
if you keep proper working chain and hear the camera there is less chance that you will have problems then forget to hit the record buton on the zoom
not to mention the drag of trying sync something that not have tc
i used the blue line and it worked quit nice with schoeps ,
thats about the one and only in the low price range that can work inside one windshield
over that you have few choices more costly choices as mbho - around 800euro and the neuman , mkh -30 is an exellent one about 200 more , or of course schoeps which is about 2grand for that setup
to match the sound its better to go with schoeps , if you need only get some sort of normal stereo image th eakg works fine
for indors , you can also check large diafragma mics ( there are allot not bad chiniz ) and us its pattern of 8 .
in aweek or 2 i will check one like that that coming from the same factory i bought the pensil ones and the large cardioid , if it would sound nice as the cardioid i have i will let you know .
but francly we dont use to much on locations , mostly to take sfx or music on the spot. so if you dont intend use allot of this setup i ll sudgest you invest in other good mic and rent when you realy need it
Thanks Oleg and Scoob. That ambient looks really cool. I thought of the AKG and large diaphram (Rode NT2A, I have an NT1A and I like it). I will look at renting, more of a curiosity than a need for me right now. I got the 302 and it can do the M/S decoding, so I want to play around with it. I need a good shotgun more that a figure 8. When I get the $$ I need to decide between the 416 and the Schoeps.
Side not, I would have saved some $ and gone w/ the ULS-CK63 as you and MattinSTL suggested, but I needed something sooner than the 2-4 weeks that it would have taken to order. I should try to plan ahead better.
I will certainly bring it over to let you play it when I come to see your pole
I am not in a position to rent out gear I am not redundant on but I think I can get you hooked up with another mixer who has more audio gear then god (god is an audio gear hog, right?)
