I'm thinking of following the instructions at Coollights.biz on doing this. I've experience working with electricity and lighting. I was wondering if anyone else has done this, what level of expertise it requires and what the results are like.

Yes quite a few people have given it a try. There was at least one person from (South America I think) that posted some pictures in the DIY forum. You might take a look there and you can contact him to see his results.
