Has anyone made P2 store work on Mac?

Have the P2 store. Have followed the push buttons advice. The USB light is orange. But Mac still won't recognize the drive. Have hear it has worked on a Mac but would like to hear from someone who has actually done it. Would like to know what OSX version and if any other drivers are being used. I only have 7 days to get it to work before I need to return it.

It works fine. You need the P2 driver that comes on the disk with the camera. Or you can download it, someone on this site knows the exact adress. You also need the latest version of FCP 5.0.4 I believe. But that's to be able to import the footage
 
No still nothing. I can see the P2 card but not the hard drive. Maybe this drive is configured wrong. It may be for a differnt card size is that a possibility? I am beginning to regret not having just bought a powerbook w/ card slot instead. 1500.00 mistake. I just bought a really expensive card reader. Ouch!

Is anyone else having this problem?
 
If I remember correctly... you have to reset the P2Store into "Mac Mode" through some arcane process of holding a combination of buttons down for 20 seconds or so... search around for it...?
 
Okay here is another little tip for everyone who is having this problem. Not only do you need to play a chord with the buttons- HDCAP-CANCEL-BATT---- in order to see a drive mount on my system THERE HAS TO BE A CARD DUMPED TO A PARTITION ON THE DRIVE.

Empty partitions don't mount as empty drives. They need the P2 folder installed so they look like a P2 card to the system and thus they mount.

So I spent the last 4 hours screwing with the thing like a retarded monkey trying every combination of things to get a mount and this is what brought me success. I thank god for these boards and people confirming it could be done or I would have given up long ago.

Still I think Panasonic is a horses arse for making it so hard and hiding the secrets. I want easy to use hardware not Harry Potter magic puzzle boxes that require a flying broomstick and hogswort to make work. I am surprised the button chording thing they came up with doesn't have different patterns depending on the day of the week. Or maybe they do..... hmmmmmmmm.

Thanks again all ye merry posters for helping a brutha out and I hope my anecdote will save some poor primate hours of frustration.
 
TO GET YOUR MAC TO SEE THE P2 STORE (TAKEN FROM A DV INFO POST):

To change compatibility mode between Mac and Windows: 1. Connect USB cable between P2 store and Mac or PC, and then turn on P2 store. 2. Make sure USB LED (D) lights. 3. Press CANCEL button (A), Battery level indicator button (B) and HDD capacity indicator button (C) simultaneously for more than five seconds. 4. The color of USB LED (D) is orange for Mac, green for Windows. NOTE : If you follow the instructions in order, the P2 store will not change modes correctly. The correct sequence is to first press and hold the HDD Capacity ( C ) and Cancel buttons (A), THEN add the Battery Check Button (B), now hold all three buttons for 5 seconds, the mode will change reliably from PC to Mac or back to PC. Doing the procedure in alphabetical order will produce hit-and-miss results. As mentioned in the note, it is necessary to connect a USB 2.0 cable to the computer or the USB mode LED will not light and you will not know which mode you have selected.

You forgot to add: "...and make sure you're doing this on the first Sunday after the full moon and the allignment of Jupiter and Mars."

Actually it's pretty easy to get the USB light to switch.

Although it would have been nice to include the trick in the MANUAL. But that's Panalogic. They like to confound and confuse the end user so maybe they will not notice the noise in the footage. Or they hope that once you get the drive to successfully mount you will be so excited you almost forget the price of the thing was more than a powerbook with a screen, 80GB drive and PC Card Reader. Or it could just be They're still p.o.'ed about that whole WWII Hydrogen/Atom Bomb business. ;)
