Has anyone here moved to L.A?

I am just curious, but has anyone here moved to L.A strictly to work in the film industry?

If so, how have you made out so far? Where did you move from? What were some big life changes you had to make moving there? Or anything else you would like to share about your move and trying to find work.
 
I moved from South Florida where I studied Theatre, Computer Animation, and Motion Picture Production over the better course of a decade.

I've been out here for a couple of years now. Since then, I've studied Meisner technique acting at Playhouse West, improv at Upright Citizens Brigade, decided I wanted to focus strictly on screenwriting, married a beautiful actress, had a son, and now I work out of L.A. Center Studios in downtown. It certainly has been a whirlwind.

Can't say this city is my favorite. It's dirty, smoggy, the roads suck, and I've found that most of the people here seem pretty full of themselves. But it's where the industry is. I miss the clean beauty of South Florida, though, and try to visit whenever possible.

Funny you say that cause I want to get out of Florida with its bipolar weather, and terrible drivers. Wanting to move to LA first to work in the business but first getting EMT certified so I can support myself first.

Anyways keeping an eye on this thread because I want to try and move to LA around November next year.
 
Didn't realize there were so many people from in town here! South FL yeah!

vcassel - One of my best friends just moved out there from Miami (after living here for 27 years) a couple months ago. Maybe I could send you his info to network!
