everything started after I install tiger, then open final cut, and did not read the fire wire connection, i can play the deck from FCP but it soes not read any DV connection, I try digitizing from Imovie and it works so there is no hardware problem, i have spend hours going trough all the possible settings and it still does not show up. when I go thru capture prsets all the fire wire are eneble.

please if i am not explaning myself ask any questions
 
Try doing some basic Mac Maintenance first - Trash your FCP Preferences, Repair Disc Permissions (run this a couple of times) from your Disc Utility. Start over and see if those things don't help.
 
I read that this is a Quicktime 7 bug and I experienced a couple of times as well. As way that fixed it so far (*knock knock*) is to go to /Library/reiceipts and trash "Quckitime701.pkg". Then go to Apple.com and download the full Quicktime 7 installer. Install and things should be better. I hope this helps! t

I had the same problem about two weeks ago. Just Repair Disc Permissions and re-install FCP.
That solved my problem.
