Has anybody bought anything from this ebay seller? Arri lights?

The 4X4 fluorescent unit isn't much less than a Kino 4X4 when you factor in shipping from China...

They need a U.S. dealer.

.

I did do a search, I never have much luck finding the answers I need. Google works a little bit better.

Ya, shipping from china is pretty expensive, but If they really are Arris without a sticker (as I'm sure they are built in china) and then marked up to rediculous prices like everything else (correct me if I'm wrong) it would be a good deal.

The Cool lights fresnels are a better deal because its from a more trust worthy dealer.

I have read a bunch of threads about it but most "deals" under $1500 for lights are open faced lights and I rather have something I can focus with. I can get 4 cool lights with barn doors, plus Impact stands, a soft box, gels, and scrims for around $1500. So thats why I'm wondering. :)

stear clear of those lights, they're knock offs.

check out cool lights or lowel. Both have very reasonable prices and good products.

Why?
I bought a 4 bank fluorescent from Steven Studio. Paid $294 after shipping. Got it in one week from China. Decent quality. Same identical unit as FloLights.
Can't speak about the fresnels but would like to hear from anyone who has them. Granted buying used brand name gear is a good first budget option but nothing wrong with a "knock-off" IF the quality is there and the price is right.

Ok cool, nice to hear someone bought something from them and actually got it. :)

I might get a 2000w light from them just because cool lights and Image west does not offer a 2000w version and I think I need it for my soft key light.

I will be shooting a feature with an HVX 200a and M2 with Nikons, so I need a lot of light.

What do you think about this setup:

One 2000w from steven studio, and 3 1000w Image West/Cool lights frensels, one or two softboxes, 2 boom stands, gels, various scrims and accessories? What speed rings fit on these frensels?

Think thats enough light? Mainly this is for inside shots in rooms less than 20x20 feet. Could use one as a fill for some daylight outside shots.

WHoah!....--that's a lot of light there.
Before you buy a whole lot of stuff, spend some time in this forum, especially the stickies. Based upon what you learn here, pick and choose the type and power of light units you actually need for the situations you expect to shoot. If you try to get everything at once, you are probably not going to be happy.

I'm definatly a careful shopper, I try not to jump in without doing some research.

I was using the arri light calculator the other day and if I run my 200a fully open and my nikon lens at f 5.6 a 1000w light gives me aprox. 198 foot candles at 15 feet (flood mode). To get a zone 5 exposure at f5.6 you need 250 foot candles. So that means I definatly need more than 1000w for my key. Am I right? Im going based on an ISO of 160 for the HVX with M2 and nikons.

Or is that overkill.
