I have uesed the last Dv miller head many, many times. It is very solid, smooth, and very capable for the DVX. I am sure a repitable company like miller would only improve their product. So I pretty sure you would be happy with it.

I am considering the DVsolo for my lite weight tripod ( run & gun) - I have a Cartoni for general use.
The DVsolo does not need a spreader as it has a set up where the legs click into preset places at the top near the bowl. The DV solo can go from high to low just by spreading the legs - although at low you need a bit of space to spread out. Seems very strong for its weight.

I would also consider 540 ART from Manfrotto/Bogen. I have one and it is so brilliant! It is expensive but you get what you pay for. It is light weight and designed to be set up or closed in few seconds. TIt is made from Carbon Fiber and strongly built. hat is exactly what it does. I have the 503 head on it which is ok.
This is in my opinion a ideal setup for a one man team like myself with the camera and acessories in one bag on one shoulder and the tripod on the other.

Thanks

Hi Whit, I personally own a Vinten Vision-3 Head on Miller Solo DV sticks. They are very light, sturdy, go up high, and are steady. You can hang a runbag on them for more stability, but they do the trick for me. They collapse short, and expand tall. I can have my tripod setup before you can count to 5, so it is very fast to setup. ;D I am still a Bogen owner, and used to having no spreader on a 3221, so the Solo was a no-brainer for me.
