Dear Experts and Others,
We are in the process of creating a small studio which will create educational videos and document business processes in a unique way.
With that in mind. I had asked an employee to come to me with a budget of equipment needed to create a specific quality Film/Video etc.
The budget was far beyond what I felt is required to complete a basic "rig" setup to complete what our scope of work is. However not second guessing our team, and trying to met them in the middle. I would like to question when specific equipment would be warranted and what can wait until next Quarter
1) Follow-Focus: We will have indoors DOF HD shots. Some Pan and Tilt
Would a novice be able to manage to focus the 35mm lenses or would the Follow-focus increase our quality of focus that much better? Budget was $600
2) Rail Systems: With or Without Shoulder Support
We may have some outdoors (not run and gun) and indoors (around cubicles) shots in which our rig would be to heavy for a Steady-Cam system. Could we use a shoulder-rail system better than a dolly-track system? Or should we have both.. Also please note we do not have artistic intent so it can be semi rough (ie Cloverfield) Budget was $1500
3) Lens: Huge Question I know
We dream of creating a shot in Downtown Shanghai which would inspire our customers to watch our videos in 1080i after hours at home. So we would like to ask if there is any lens which could achieve shots ANYWHERE near Batman's opening sequence where there above the Chicago skyline?
Simple question: What is the best lens for the Biggest Shot?
Budget is open to achieve this (except IMAX prices of course)
Kind Regards,
Mark Leon
