in the absence of a single magical program that could import, edit, and export any imaginable type of digital video, i am thinking of buying a new Intel Mac with FCP and supplementing it with various other programs (such as cleaner, procoder, flip4mac, etc) for greater import/export flexibility.
we have only light editing needs but need super flexibility for import/export because we are expected to work with whatever file type clients feel like sending (generally requiring timesucking conversions) and also output files in whatever formats they or our vendors demand.
any suggestions? thanks in advance for any insight you can offer!!!

3. reliable bidirectional analog-to-DV conversion (pref external)
4. ability to convert Avid Xpress DV native files (OMFI files)
