Harddrive's/Monitor's for HVX

Hey guys,

I'm gearing up right now to start production on my first feature in a few months. We will be shooting 720p on the HVX, and I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations for storage options.

According to our shooting script calculations, we'll probably be taking in roughly 100gb or more worth of video data daily. I'd like to use a portable external raid setup connected to a laptop on location to dump the p2 cards onto. Does anyone have any suggestions on brands/models for this?

Also, i'm looking into production monitors capable of HD. Not looking for anything too expensive, but a lower end model we could use for playback on set, and for some basic color correcting during post. Any suggestions are most appreciated.

Thanks
-Steve

I'm still looking into storage solutions as well. I was at a producer's conference and BandPro had a booth with the SD950 connected to a Sony LMD-9 monitor. The image was beautiful. It is a small field monitor around 8 or 9 inches but the image was crisp and it held the color quite well. In any scenario, these monitors cost a bundle and word "RENT" pops up immediately.

Good luck with that Steve. I had to go to an 15" Apple G4 $2,000 with FCP $1,000 updated to 5.0.4 a couple of OWC RAID drives for $500 and A 7" Marshall V-R70P-HDA monitor $1300 with another $1,000 for the battery and charger, and none of it was cheap bud, at least to me. You can go with a retail HD TV for less money and they work well, if you have an adapter to convert the HD output signal to VGA so you can get HD out of the TV/monitor. I have a couple of 17" Initial's TV/monitors that work well, but they are a bit of a pain in the ass to drag around.

You might want to check out this link http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=49689 for more info on the adaptors you will need to get the HDTV to work.
