For the newer smaller camcorders available to the general population, the standard and most popular recording medium has been MiniDV for several years. A few months ago, JVC announced it's infamous (perhaps?) hard drive cam. What say you? Do they hard drives rule with their electronical exellence, or do digital tapes still rule the head of the pack?

1) Hard Drive Cameras
2)miniDV

What about mini-DVD cams? Those are probably the most popular amongst consumers considering they can just pop it into the DVD player with no capture required.

I meant DVD's, camcorders that record to a DVD.

I know what a miniDV cassette is. I just threw this in because we're referring to consumer cams.

True, but consumers love them...I used to work at CompUSA and I could talk till I was blue in the face about the quality of miniDV over DVD's but they just wanted the convienence.
