I just got 2 mac pro and i want to had internal hard drives to both of them(250g drives). which one should i buy?? And i also need one 250g for a G5 (not intel).

Thanks

the western digital WD Caviar SE16 250g are not really expensive but are the compatible with mac intel and are they good??

If it is a SATA drive, it is compatible. Just reformat it after you install it.

Western Digital are lower on the drive food chain. Seagates are the best (but spendy), then Hitachi, then arguably WD or Maxtor...

Yes - it will work fine. Just remember to back up your stuff that you don't have on tape. Drives will fail. Seagate less so than WDs.

But you put that in your machine and it will work fine. Read -- write... whatever.

Good luck,

Sorry, but you don't know what you are saying. First off, the Mac Pro towers have 3 empty drive trays that take bare SATA drives. Seagate, Hitachi, Maxtor and WD make SATA drives, and ANY SATA drive will work in those trays.

Second, LaCie isn't a drive manufacturer, but an enclosure manufacturer. LaCie cases contain WD, or Maxtor, or Hitachi or Seagate drives. And they plug in via USB or Firewire...EXTERNALLY. We are talking about internal drives here. Always better to install internally than externally. Cheaper and FAR faster.

i agree with you shane thats why i want to use as much as i can the 4 tray in my 2 new mac pro. I was thinking about adding 2, 250drives in each so im going to end up with 750gb on every computer so i will be able to work on a 24min show all on one computer with having 1 or 2 external drives connected on the computer. Im only going to use external for back and not for work.

Any time it comes to drives, storage, or performance check out barefeats.com. They are the LAST word when it comes to performance. Word.
