Hard Case/Soft Case for winter??

Hey guys,

I was wondering what you guys would recomend for a case. I'm going be doing alot of winter stuff so it's going get cold and probably bounced around a bit. I would also like it to fit in or strap to a backpack.
Any info would be great!
thanks

Re: Hard Case/Soft Case for winter??

A case that seals airtight will keep humidity and moisture and condensation from attacking. When you are going to bring the camera in from the cold, put it in something airtight before going into a warm environment. The moisture in the warm air will attack the cold surfaces; but if it's sealed, it can't. You will have to wait until it gets to room temp before opening.
Many hard cases have a seal around them to facilitate this but a heavy duty zipper bag can also work. Just keep spares on hand as they tend to wear out from use.
I used several giant sized zipper bags to bring pieces of my camera (betacam was to big to fit in one bag) from a cold room at -20 out to a heatwave of +90. No condensation inside the bags.

I got both but ever since I got my Pelican case back in February, I have been using that ALL the time. I use the soft case for other supplies and accessories now.
