does the dvx fit in the Pelican 1450?, according to measuremnts it should but depth wise i think its pushing it, does there need to be some leway space for foam? can it fit in a smaller case? im not sticking anything else in it, just the camera.

Thanks

I just retargeted one of my Pelican 1500's for use as a DVX100 case. My one concern is the pressure on the the lens hood, and pressure on the tape access panel. I may hve to remove some of the more permanent padding on the top of the case, to ease any excessive pressure there.

In the case of the lens hood, that is removable, and so I could perhaps 'live' with that packing requirement.

thanks for that, does anyone know if pressure like that is bad for it? caus then the 1450 would have even more pressure?

I use both the 1520 and the 1600. The 1520 is perfect, the 1600 a bit big, but you can pack a ton of accessories in the case. I prefer the 1520, just because it's more portable and lighter. But either way, they're both great cases, and replacement foam is cheap.

I just recently purchased the 1550 with the divider system (hasn't arrived yet). I chose that model because it seemed to be the most common one used by DVX users, but as you can see there are lots of flavors and reasons behind them.

Perhaps not a quick fix, but usually what I do first is to run a quick search of the entire forum, if you keyword 'pelican' or '1550' you'll find a ton of threads, and plenty of information that you can use to decide what will work best for your needs/budget/preferences. Good luck!

Pelican 1510 question

Pelican 1510 question

What are your thoughts on the 1510? I just bought one and it seems I will have to remove a section of the top pick and pluck foam. However it seems that this is still too little room depthwise for the DVX. If I remove the second layer of foam, I will be left with a rather meager amount of padding on the backside of the case. Is there anyway to partially remove foam from the second layer? Is this case just plain too small?
