Happy St Patrick's Day!

You bastard.:) I just got home (a little late) and since it's St. Patty's Day, I've decided to start with a Johnny Jump Up (hard cider with a shot of Jameson's poured in it). The Guinness is next.
Party on... I'm having corned beef and Guinness...yum/hiccup

We're the first ones to starve the first ones to die
The first ones in line for that pie-in-the-sky
And always the last when the cream is shared out
For the worker is working when the fat cat's about

haha, just found this:

Irish Toast
When we drink, we get drunk.
When we get drunk, we fall asleep.
When we fall asleep, we commit no sin.
When we commit no sin, we go to heaven.
So, let's all get drunk, and go to heaven!

Hey Horse, there's a band in the Twin Cities called the Tim Malloys that do that tune (Johnny Jump Up) Ever seen 'em? They are a helluva fun band. Irish drinking tunes and rebel songs. I see them whenever I am up that way.

By coincidence, I just picked up a copy of 'How The Irish Saved Civilization' yesterday. It's a great book to appreciate St. Patrick and the way the Irish kept civilization (and beer, I am sure) alive throughout the dark ages.

Since the Irish and the Czechs are brothers anyway (someone should dispel the myth we are actually Slavs - we are Celts who just happen to use a Slavic language), tonight I am going to celebrate that fact and get drunk. Yeey! Long live hops and all its derivatives!

You'd think if the Vatican can make a Lent exception and allow the eating of meat this particular Friday...
Many dioceses normally do just that when Saint Patrick's Day happens to to fall on a Friday...
To allow for either corn beef and cabbage (Irish-American) or the more traditional Irish bacon and cabbage...

Here's a couple:

An Irishman is never drunk as long as he can hold onto one blade of grass and not fall off the face of the earth. :)

And may the saddest day of your future be no worse than the happiest day of your past. :)

May you be half an hour in Heaven before the devil knows you're dead.

-or-

May those that love us, love us
And those that don't love us,
May God turn their hearts...
And if he doesn't turn their hearts...
May he turn their ankles
So we'll know them by their limping....

Limerick time...

There once was a man named O'Hare
Who was balling his woman on the stair
The bannister broke
He quickened his stroke
And finished her off in midair! :cheesy:

John O'Reilly hoisted his beer and said, "Here's to spending the rest of me
life, between the legs of me wife!"
That won him the top prize at the pub
for the best toast of the night!

He went home and told his wife,
Mary,
"I won the prize for the Best toast of the night"

She said, "Aye, did ye now.
And what was your toast?"

John said, "Here's to spending the rest of me life, sitting in church beside
me wife."

"Oh, that is very nice indeed, John!" Mary said.

The next day,
Mary ran into one of John's drinking buddies on the street corner.
The man chuckled leeringly and said,
"John won the prize the other night at the pub with a toast about you, Mary."

She said, "Aye, he told me, and I was a bit surprised myself. You know, he's
only been there twice in the last four years. Once he fell asleep, and the
other time I had to pull him by the ears to make him come."

I may have. I know I've heard the song live before. We have an Irish pub in town called McGoff's that has live music on the weekends, so it's very possible that I've seen them there.

How often do you get this way?

Not much anymore. My Bro-in-law (and part-time partner...when he's not being a dick) lived in St Paul for a while. But now he's living in my house...and has been for 9 months...:(

Ouch. That's gotta be rough. If you ever get back around here, let me know.:)

I'll do that. Drinking seems to be the best type of winter recreation up that way
