Happy Holidays

One of the things I love about this board is that everyone who participates seems to have a passion for creating films whether they be short, long, dramatic, musical, whatever. There are pros and amateurs and the skill levels of users run the gamut.

The sense of community I have felt here is beyond my expectations. There is a kindness and generosity in this virtual community that I have never felt elsewhere.

The encouragement I have gotten personally has fired my passion even more dramatically and has enabled me to shoot more than I probably would have.

So this is me acknowledging all of you. I truly wish you luck with your filmmaking endeavors. It doesn't matter if you ever make it to Hollywood or wherever you want to be, what matters is you are doing something that expresses how you feel and creates an outlet for your imagination. That's where the real success lies...creation and the feeling of accomplishment you get from all your self-induced hard work.

So here's to a great new year. Resolve to keep learning and never put the camera down. Do your best work now and do even better tomorrow.

Steven

Re: Happy Holidays

Thanks Steven!

I too am constantly overwhelmed by the community spirit on this board. Never have I seen this 'online' in a forum. Jarred has created a monster that has turned in a wonderful direction and spirit of independent filmmaking.

From wannabe hacks and working professionals, everyone seems to share the same/similar dreams and goals. The professionals on this site show their humility by taking the time to help us all with their knowledge and invaluble experience and I thank all of you for that!

All of your work, thoughts and encouragement keep me focused on my dreams too! A true virtual community and I love where it has gone.

Here is to a wonderful holiday season for all of you and a prosperous (in terms of filmmaking dreams and creativity) 2005.

Thank you to Jarred and my fellow mods Barry Green, Barry S, David J, TC and KAI and each of our members for their support and sharing of wealth (knowledge).

- John

Let's turn up the dream machine for the coming year!

Excellent. How old were you when you left?  I hope to make a movie there someday.  Perhaps you'll join me and we can share a few pints as you show me the sights.

The thing that always throws me about Gaelic is the pronunciation.

Re: Happy Holidays

How far from Seattle do you live? My brother lives out on the Kitsap peninsula in Silverdale. I may be visiting him this spring. After all, we don't need to go to Erin for a bit o' the black.

Re: Happy Holidays

Yeah Jim, I'd love to get together with you if you are in my neck of the woods. I'm about 20 miles east of Seattle. PM me when you are going to be in town and maybe we can hook up.

Re: Happy Holidays

The community here is great. Everyone is very supportive and helpful and I want to thank you all for that. This is truly the best online community I've ever been a part of. Hands down.

Re: Happy Holidays

I just wanted to say all of you guys have inspired me again to continue making films. I’ve gained a lot of valuable information in the short period of time I’ve been here. Yes, I did do a little goofing off of course. But ultimately you guys made me realized that anything is possible when your focused, no pun. I just want to thank you all very much for welcoming me and I hope you and your family have a safe and wonderful Christmas & a happy 2005 year. Thanks again everyone from the bottom of my heart. :)

Re: Happy Holidays

Re: Happy Holidays

Re: Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays to all.

This forum's a fun, informative, and cozy place that really makes me - and I can only assume everyone else - feel great. From the jokes to the Sixteen by Nines, it's the first place I've logged on to whenever I hit a computer since January. Thanks to everybody who's made it the way it is; here's to good times, good health, and good shooting :)
