Happy Ending

A long time coming, but I just watched Requiem For A Dream. While there were a few ametuer bits in it and some of the music was badly placed the movie pretty much blew me away. I've been thinking about it ever since. And Ellen Burstyn was wonderful when the psychosis kicked in. A truly graphic portrayal of how low we can go.

Can anyone top Requiem for the most depressing ending to a movie?

I hadn't heard of either of those two but IMDB reasures me I'm gonna want to make sure I have an empty stomach before watching them.

You might also check out the Fountain, his next movie. I hadn't followed it when it came out, but just watched it on DVD last night. It has kind of a satisfying ending, but man, it takes you on a pretty heart-wrenching ride to get there. And it was really quite amazing and beautiful overall.

ga good korean film that end on sad but happy note the host and a bittersweet life. Also JSA.

The Fountain does not have a depressing ending, if that is what you are looking for. However, be sure to check it out.

It's just been a while since I saw a film drive all it's main characters so deeply in to the shi*. In fact, I never have which is why I was asking. From a reasonably happy place in their lives we see them spiral uncontrollably downward until they cannot get any lower. And we leave them with absolutely no hope. I thought it was a fantastic movie for the reason (amongst others) that almost everybody who watches it is left reeling for days!
