Hang a recorder off a Sachtler Cine DSLR head?

Would it be a bad idea to attach a Marantz PMD661 recorder to the unused threaded pan arm port on a Sachtler Cine DSLR head? The recorder weighs about 1 lb. with batteries. It might better manage the XLR cables and not be as awkward as having it rail-mounted behind my 7-8 lb. 5DII setup. But of course I wouldn't want it to affect the performance of the head.

If you can rig it so the center of gravity of the recorder is in line with the tilt axis of the head, there shouldn't be much effect on the action of the head at all, and it wouldn't even count against the counterbalance weight capacity because it wouldn't have any moment around the tilt axis. The possible inconvenience is that this may partially block access to the tilt lock or other controls on the head.
