Hi CD Team

Not sure if this is the right thread to ask (or if this has been answered already) but will the popular codec 12bit 444 handle "full range"? As many recorders fail to handle full range and clip to "legal range" (except the pix240 which now has been updated to correctly handle full range in 12bit 444)

Many thanks for your response.

Currently it is for display but when compressed recording is enabled there will be an allowance for the recording as well.

Thanks Mitch

Very good news!

This issue of clipped highlights on the 12bit 444 "Popular codec" has been a major problem on most recorders and to date, only the pix240 has resolved the issue allowing for full 109% recording.

Even my cineDeck EX clips at 100% when using the 12bit 444 "Popular codec". 10 bit 444 seems to retain the full 109% tho. Imagine the frustration of using 10bit 422 instead just to get full range?!

Thank again Mitch, your dedication to the community has been stellar. I can't even imagine responding to dozens of questions and comments on a daily basis like you have.

Hi CD Team

I see the F35 is listed as supported, great!
Will the 7Q record "12bit" 444 in both compressed and uncompressed from the F35? up to 30P in uncompressed and up to 60P in compressed?
The F35 has to use "quad link" HD SDI to send 50P in 12bit 444, will the 7Q support this?

Many Thanks

The response from our engineers is yes we can record the 12-bit dual link up to 30p. For the quad link up to 60p, we could technically do this, but we have not as yet implemented it. If enough clients asked for it we could develop it. If you are interested in this as an option then you should contact me directly so that I can build an interest list.

Excellent! Not sure if the F35 can even properly output quad link however If it does that would be amazing!
Is the sony option necessary to use with the F35? It Looks like we can use the base option of uncompressed 1080 12bit 444 up to 30p correct?

just making sure before purchasing

Anything further on this yet?

Out of the box, with the 2 connections 'dual link' into the 7Q, can we get 12bit 444 at 23.976 (standard frame rates, no ramping)? Or will we need a 3G box like the AJA Multiplexer?

Is the 7Q doing the dual link for us so to speak, and picking up the full 444 signal at 12bit without the need for additonal hardware....

The F35 sends out its 12-bit variant 444 in a unique structure. We technically can do this, but are not currently configured to do so. It is on our roadmap to write the code so that we can automatically detect and support the signal stream.

Do we have any timeline for this Mitch? or can we purchase that code update rather than us habing to buy hardware that will later not be needed? We plan on using the F35 with 7Q on a feature in Feb.....

If any of that is possible, please let me know jon@backtoawake.com
