handling stills while shooting motion?

We have been asked several times about shooting stills during commercial video shoots. Normally when we're hired for still photography it is fairly elaborate commercial work. The art director said they've done it before, but they're only expecting available light snapshots. The reality is it will never get the results they are used too. How does anyone else handle this? We really don't want to do it this way, but don't want to alienate a client either. Thanks for any ideas.

Im a huge fan if this is done and charged for right. So much more efficient for the client than having two shoots AND consistency across marketing materials.

IMO the stills need to be directed and part of the shot list like a motion shoot.

Seems easy enough to pop a q flash where the key light is!

But must be done properly.
