Worthy tips for sure.
I use Stickies, Topstick and Moleskin a lot. Stickydots are another option. For hairy chests, if there no other alternate place. Rycote Overcovers are preferred by many. or.. a B6 can often be 'hidden' in plain sight.
I certainly would not put gaffer tape directly on skin. I love/hate Transpore, holds securely, but sticky residue builds up on the cable and element and it's extremly difficult to remove using 'normal' methods. Alcohol only spreads the goo around and WD40 has little affect. Bug and tar remover, Goop and lighter fluid are harsh so I try to avoid it. Mineral oil works on skin but not so good on cables. Medical tape residue remover works, but it's freak'n expensive... about $8 an ounce. </end rant>
