Handling a Framerate Mix-Up

Hi all,

I am working as a consultant on editing a project. Unfortunately, I've not been able to be involved in all of the necessary steps and I'm dealing with teaching myself and somebody else Premiere CS3 at the same time.

Here's the situation: The footage was recorded in 24P Cine mode on a Canon HV30. I created a 24fps project and we began working on editing. Only later did I notice that the footage was 29.97fps. Somebody else captured the footage to the computer, so I assume there was a pulldown while capturing. So now I'm working with 29.97 fps in a 24fps timeline.

From my reading, it seems to me that Premiere is relatively lenient in mixing framerates. But I just want to be certain this is the case. Will there be any issues? For best results, should I try to fix the problem so that everything is nice and consistent? If so, how?

Thanks in advance for any help.

HV30 doesn't have automatic pulldown removal flag so the footage will be 29.97. If you really want to remove them either look into Cineform Neo or do a google search for pulldown removal. The Cineform way is simple: just load the footage and it does it automatically. The free way is a lot more work.
